Henry Enrique “Erik” Estrada was born on March 16, 1949 in East Harlem, Manhattan, New York City, NY. He is an American police officer (deputy sheriff) and actor of a Puerto Rican descent. He is best known for his co-starring lead role in the 1977–1983 United States police television series CHiPs. He is also known for his work in Spanish language telenovelas (soap operas). He has appeared in reality television shows and infomercials. He has a successful career as voiceover artist and is currently working on Cartoon Network’s Sealab 2021. This earned him an estimated net worth of $2 million.
Erik Estrada made his film debut in the 1970 film version of The Cross and the Switchblade in the role of Nicky Cruz together with Pat Boone who played the role of David Wilkerson. He took part in the disaster film Airport 1975. In 1978, he trained in martial arts in preparation for a two part episode in CHiPs. He was voted one of The 10 Sexiest Bachelors in the World by People magazine later in 1979. He appeared in the three-part episode of the police drama Hunter.
In the 90s, Estrada played in a Mexican telenovela. Despite his descent, he doesn’t speak Spanish so the lines were fed to him over an earphone during production. He landed the role of Johnny in Dos mujeres, un camino (Two women, one road) in 1993 where he had to take 30 straight days of Berlitz Spanish lessons before he could begin. The show became the biggest telenovela in Latin-American history and has helped revived his almost non-existent career.
Estrada was the original choice to play the role of Carlos in From Dusk ‘Til Dawn (1996).He was a reserved police officer with Muncie, Indiana police department from 2007-2010. He completed his full training in 2007 as seen on the TV series Armed and Famous (2007).
Erik Estrada was a big star. He ranked fifteenth on the TV Guide’s Network as TV’s 25 Sexiest Men of All Time (2008) and first in the same network as TV’s 25 Sexiest Men in Uniform (2009). He also has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Estrada was engaged to Beverly Adams. He was married three times. He was divorced to both Joyce Miller (1979-1980) and Peggy Rowe (1985-1990) with two children. His present wife is Nanette Mirkovich and they have one child.

The Cielo Gala raises funds in support of the Latino Commission on AIDS to create and promote HIV and AIDS service programs and initiatives aimed at increased awareness, prevention, and treatment education for Hispanic/Latinos, as well as to build capacity among other HIV/AIDS organizations serving Latino communities throughout the U.S. and the Territories. The evening will consist of a cocktail reception and silent auction, followed by dinner and an awards presentation. Macy’s, the presenting sponsor of the silent auction, has teamed up with Bobbi Brown to bring Cielo guests’ make-up touch-ups during the Silent Auction followed by pictures at their photo station.

Sackler Foundation, Board Chair of the Brooklyn Museum, and founder of the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art at the Brooklyn Museum.
Melissa Mark-Viverito, New York City Council Speaker
Melissa Mark-Viverito currently serves as the Speaker of the New York City Council, the first Puerto Rican and Latina to hold a citywide elected position. She represents the 8th District, which includes El Bario/East Harlem and the South Bronx. Speaker Mark-Viverito was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She worked for over a decade in local activism, nonprofit organizations and labor before being elected to the City Council in 2005. In 2011, she was one of four Council Members to pioneer the first-ever Participatory Budgeting process in New York City. She is a graduate of Columbia College at Columbia University and Baruch College, City University of New York, where she studied Public Administration through the National Urban Fellows Program.

Dr. Danielle Moss Lee joined the YWCA of the City of New York – the nation’s first YWCA association – in 2012 as President and CEO. Under her tenure, the YWCA of NYC has expanded its program portfolio to include a women’s speaker series for professional women, STEM education for girls and young women and other robust leadership programs for women. Dr. Moss Lee’s contributions to education and the social sector have been recognized by the NY State Education Department, NYC Comptroller’s Office, The New York Coalition of 100 Black women, among many others. Ms. Cherno Biko lives to educate, inspire and entertain. She hails from a long ancestral line of charismatic leaders, activists and storytellers, most notably Steven Biko. Ms. Biko has become widely known as a sought after speaker and prominent human rights advocate. Amanda R. Matos has devoted her work to alleviating barriers to reproductive health care and education in communities of color through capacity building, political education, and lobbying at the local, state, and federal level. She is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of The WomanHOOD Project (Helping Ourselves Overcome Discrimination), an innovative after school mentorship program for young women of color in the Bronx. Amanda also supports Planned Parenthood of New York City expand its community organizing efforts.
Her dedication to racial and gender justice has been recognized by the United Nations Peace Day and the national Peace First Prize, among others.

Rev. Sharpton is a champion for human rights and is passionate about the key issues that involve confronting human rights violations. One of his career highlights has been contributing to the end of the United States Navy exercises in Vieques, Puerto Rico, which proved to be poisoning the environment on the island.
Rev. Sharpton says his religious convictions are the basis for his life and on most Sundays he preaches to congregations across the nation. Rev. Sharpton has two daughters from his marriage to Kathy Jordan Sharpton, Dominique and Ashley. Dominique works as the Membership Director for National Action Network and produces NAN’s weekly live radio broadcast. Ashley currently attends college at Hampton University.
Rev. Sharpton was educated in New York public schools and attended Brooklyn College. He has an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Bethune-Cookman University, Virginia Union University, and an honorary degree from A.P. Bible College.

Colin Luther Powel is an American statesman and a retired four-star general in the United States Army.He was the 65th United States Secretary of State, serving under U.S. President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2005, the first African American to serve in that position. During his military career, Powell also served as National Security Advisor (1987–1989), as Commander of the U.S. Army Forces Command (1989) and as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (1989–1993), holding the latter position during the Persian Gulf War. Born in Harlem as the son of Jamaican immigrants, Powell was the first, and so far the only, African American to serve on the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the first of two consecutive black office-holders to serve as U.S. Secretary of State.

The National Puerto Rican Day Parade (NPRDP) takes place annually along Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, on the second Sunday in June, in honor of the nearly 4 million inhabitants of Puerto Rico and over 4 million people of Puerto Rican birth or heritage residing in the United States.
Originally, the Desfile Puertorriqueño, Inc., was born of the imperative necessity of translating Puerto Rican achievements into a visible demonstration of the strength of the Puerto Rican community, in order to organize and support our Latino counterparts. The first parade was held on Sunday, April 13, 1958, in Spanish Harlem “El Barrio”; subsequently, the organization found its new home along Fifth Avenue in New York City.
In 1995, the National Puerto Rican Day Parade, Inc., a 501 (c) (3) organization, was formed from its predecessor, the New York Puerto Rican Parade, when Dr. Ramón S. Vélez and the parade board envisioned a national concept for demonstrating the cultural pride of our community. This new organizational structure not only broadened the scale of the parade itself but enhanced its ability to promote cultural awareness, education, leadership and community engagement among Puerto Ricans.
Annually, the NPRDP hosts many social, cultural, and educational events throughout the city including an Educational Scholarship Banquet, Cultural Festival, Parade Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Cultural Pageant (Search for Miss Puerto Rico), and the Gala Affair.
In 2007, we celebrated our 50th Anniversary with more than 100,000 marching participants and nearly three million spectators along the parade route. The parade continues to attract prominent leaders in the Puerto Rican community including celebrities like Ricky Martin, Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, El Gran Combo, Geraldo Rivera, Rosie Perez and many more.
The parade marches along Fifth Avenue from 44th Street to 79th Street and has grown to become the largest demonstration of ethnic pride in the nation. The parade is a cultural icon and a part of the cultural fabric of New York City.

Each inductee received a custom-designed belt signifying his induction into the NYSBHOF. All NYSBHOF plaques are on display at the New York State Athletic Commission.
All boxers had to have been inactive for at least three years, in order to be eligible for NYSBHOF induction, and all inductees must have resided in New York State for a significant portion of their boxing careers.

THE NATIONAL BASKETBALL RETIRED PLAYERS ASSOCIATION
Founded in 1992 by NBA Legends Dave DeBusschere, Dave Bing, Archie Clark, Dave Cowens and Oscar Robertson, the National Basketball Retired Players Association (NBRPA) is a non-profit association comprised of former professional basketball players of the NBA, ABA, Harlem Globetrotters, and WNBA. We are the only alumni association of its kind supported directly by the NBA and National Basketball Players Association (NBPA).
MISSION STATEMENT
The National Basketball Retired Players Association is a charitable 501(c)3 non-profit organization with a two-pronged mission to assist former NBA, ABA, Harlem Globetrotters and WNBA players in their transition from the playing court into life after the game, while also positively impacting communities and youth through basketball.
ABOUT THE NBRPA
With energetic corporate leadership and a unified Board, the future has never been brighter at the NBRPA. Now more than 20 years old, the Association provides a host of programs, services and benefits designed to help retired basketball players and their families successfully navigate life after the game. In support of its membership, the NBRPA proactively offers a full menu of education, health, finance and career/life transition benefits to retired basketball players and their families.
Working in conjunction with the NBA and NBPA, the NBRPA’s membership promotes basketball and enhances the sport’s image by building community relationships and fostering support for charitable activities and philanthropic events with a connection to the game.
By playing in the NBA, ABA, WNBA or with the Harlem Globetrotters, NBRPA members helped build the game of basketball and – through the distinction of an on-court professional career at the sport’s highest levels – remain ambassadors to the game for life. NBRPA members embody the game long after taking the court professionally and put their notoriety to positive use as spokespersons and conduits of good will in the basketball community.
