Exclusive interview with Sergey Kovalev ,World Light heavyweight Boxing Champion-2014

Sergey Kovalev is a Russian professional boxer from Chelyabinsk, Russia but based in Florida. He is the reigning WBO light heavyweight champion and known for his devastating punching power. His promotional agency is Main Events and his trainer is John David Jackson.Kovalev holds notable victories over former light heavyweight world champions Gabriel Campillo and Nathan Cleverly.
Kovalev started his career with a first-round TKO of Daniel Chavez at Greenboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina. He won his first nine fights with first- or second-round knockout. He faced more serious competition against Darnell Boone in October 2010, when he had to fight all eight rounds, but won a tough fight.

In July 2011, Kovalev won his first NABA belt in a 10-round fight with Douglas Otieno from Kenya. The Russian’s next bout against Grover Young was controversial, however, as in the second round, Kovalev threw a left hook to the head, but the judges suggested that it was a blow to the back of the head -– an unintentional infringement. And as the American could not continue, the fight was declared a technical draw.

Kovalev will Fight for the Unduspited Light Heavyweight Unification fight with The Legendary Bernard “The Alien” Hopkins on Nov 8th 2014 , in Atlantic City.

Bernard Hopkins VS Sergey Kovalev Light Heavyweight Unification Bout PR Conf -2014

Bernard “The Alien” Hopkins and Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev held a press conference in New York City and a media roundtable in Philadelphia Tuesday to officially announce their light heavyweight unification bout on Saturday, Nov. 8 taking place at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City live on HBO World Championship Boxing®.

Check out what the fighters and promoters had to say below:

BERNARD HOPKINS, WBA & IBF Light Heavyweight World Champion

“When fighters want to fight, this is what happens. When we really want to do it and our promoters do as well, we get it done.

“I take everything I do extremely seriously. But people ask me, how can I continue to do this? I have no plan or timetable when I put my mind to something.

“I want the best. Hagler fought the best. Ray Leonard fought the best. The Alis of the world, they fought the best. I’m from the era where I fought the best and that’s important to me. I receive undisputed status in 2001 and that was special.

“I bloomed late. I didn’t bloom by the timing of the experts. I want to make it as difficult as possible for you to come up with a headline for me. I don’t want to be on the pound-for-pound list because that would make me human.

“What I’m doing now is making a new legacy and a new list and a new way to judge. ‘Where do we put this man? We can’t put him in the top 10. He’s doing things no one has done!’

“Enjoy this while you can and come see it. Don’t worry about when or how I’m going to leave or break down. You guys are all humans, I understand you, but you don’t understand me.

“The last time I heard, he [Kovalev] can box. He’s shown that he can box…People are traumatized by the punch and the knockout.

“I’ve been in the game for almost three decades. I look for more of what a guy brings to a gunfight other than bullets…The sweet science is not based on only one thing you can do particularly well.

“If he comes in the game thinking a punch is all he’ll need, he might be right, so you should watch.

“I’m walking a tightrope hundreds of feet in the air. He crushes people. Only three or four people survive his hammer.

“There’s no pressure on me but one thing that is on Bernard Hopkins – that no other fighter really has to do deal with because they’ve never been in my situation is – how I continue to keep making history

“Anybody at the right time and the right place can get knocked out. It is his job to do what others try to do. It is my job to do what I’ve been doing.

“Come November 8 on HBO you get to watch artwork. You’re watching Miles Davis and Louis Armstrong with gloves on.

“It’s such a testimony to see a 50-year-old man – less than 100 days from now – go 30 plus minutes with a young strong Russian puncher and not get a scratch on him.

“I understand humans have a timeline of when they are supposed to go. Age 35 and you’re done – I don’t care what sport you’re in. It’s a fact. I don’t know what type of evidence I need to show I’m an alien other than what is there.”

SERGEY KOVALEV, WBO Light Heavyweight World Champion

“It is not easy to overlook Hopkins. I think when he’s 60 years old he’ll be in the same condition. He’s an alien, but I have to send him to the moon and maybe from there he’ll go by himself to Mars.

“I want to say that one day in Big Bear when I trained, I met Oscar De La Hoya and asked him to sign me and he turned me down, but now here we are on different sides.

“I am not a talker, I am a fighter and I am sure Bernard will promote the fight for both of us.

“I don’t really understand what Bernard is saying. It doesn’t matter what he says. Even if I understood, I wouldn’t care. I don’t worry about him. I’ll go into the ring and do my job.

“Bernard talks and fights. I just fight.

“I can’t say what the fight will be like. This is boxing and anything can happen.

“It is my secret what I will do on fight night. I will give it my all and come out with the win.”

OSCAR DE LA HOYA, President & Founder of Golden Boy Promotions

“This fight is the best against the best in the light heavyweight division.

“I really do feel that this is not just a fight, but an event. I am glad that it’s on HBO and I’m glad its not on pay-per-view, which it easily could have been, but you have to give credit to the fighters who are doing it for the fans.

“I believe that many people over the years have doubted Bernard Hopkins. He’s over 40-years-old, how can he win? All of those questions are no longer being asked. Everything that he does, he deserves.

“At 49-years-old, being the oldest champion in any sport, he deserves tons of respect. The fact that he’s facing the ‘Krusher,’ is just another of the many dangerous fighters that Bernard has faced.

“Being the best middleweight in the history of this sport, with 20 defenses and now to be 49 at light heavyweight, he’s still going strong. I’m now convinced he is an Alien.”

KATHY DUVA, CEO of Main Events

“This fight is going to be the most anticipated fight of 2014. It’s so much fun putting together a fight like this that everyone wants to see. Its great to see the excitement level and the anticipation, you can feel it in the air.

“This is going to be a tremendous event. It’s one of those fights that when the bell rings you really won’t know what is going to happen. It’s not about finding out who’s best, its about who is going to win the fight, because both are great.

“This is what boxing is supposed to be and we look forward to November 8.

“The first person I thought of when I saw Sergey Kovalev in the ring was Ray Leonard. I saw the look in his eye and I could tell he was different. I believe he is the most electrifying boxer in the world of boxing and he will prove it on November 8.”

KEN CONDON, Caesar’s Entertainment Consultant

“This is an Atlantic City fight, it’s in Bernard’s backyard and this is where the fight belongs.

“Sergey has also developed a great following from his last two fights in Atlantic City.

“Caesar’s stepped up to the plate and continued its tradition of great championship boxing in Atlantic City. We believe in the future of Atlantic City and we believe in boxing. We expect a sellout on November 8.”

AARON DAVIS, NJSAC Director

“November 8 is going to be a nice fight with premier fighters and premier promoters. We want to keep on the legacy that we have created in New Jersey.”

The Most Dangerous Man in America: The Making of Douglas Macarthur

Douglas MacArthur is one of the most controversial generals in American history – and one of the most brilliant. His legacy was colored by his outsized personality, his self-importance, and his disregard for civilian authority. Yet he conquered more territory with fewer men than any general in World War II. In this book, celebrated historian Mark Perry rehabilitates this paradox of a man, examining how he led America to victory in the Pacific and reshaped modern warfare in the process.
A compelling new appraisal of Douglas MacArthur, The Most Dangerous Man in America is a penetrating account of a true military genius, a man who continues to be celebrated and misunderstood in equal measure.

Microsoft debuts 12″ Surface Pro 3, its super-slim laptop-killing tablet in New York-2014

All specifications leaked earlier this week hold water, including the use of Intel’s Haswell chipset, thinner bezels, relocated Windows button and a larger form factor. Microsoft reckons that the average user will eke out nine hours of web browsing and enjoy crisper sound thanks to Dolby Audio. The 12″ Full HD display, the press release notes, will be housed in “a beautiful package that is 30 percent thinner than an 11-inch MacBook Air.”

There’s no doubt what company Microsoft is gunning for here. Redmond’s pricing is right up Apple’s alley too, with the Surface Pro 3 ranging from US$799 to a rather steep US$1 949. In comparison, a 128GB Apple iPad will currently set you back around US$799, around US$200 less than its closest 128GB Surface equivalent.

Panos Panay, corporate vice president of Microsoft Surface, added his opinions regarding Redmond’s new iPad/laptop-killer.

“Surface Pro 3 is the tablet that can replace your laptop — packing all the performance of a fully powered laptop into a thin, light and beautifully designed device. You’ll love being able to carry a single device for your next class, workday or weekend getaway knowing you have all the power you need.”

Something Panay failed to announce though was the Surface Mini. Allegedly, Microsoft shirked the smaller ARM-powered device’s announcement due to a last minute change of heart,

The Surface Pro 3 and a host of accessories however, is available for preorder including Surface Pro Type Cover (transforming the tablet into a laptop, Surface Pen, a Docking Station and a Surface Ethernet Adapter. These will be available to customers in Canada and the US by 20 June, and other nations “by the end of August.” Expect to pay over US$2000 for the full set with the most amount of memory.

Review of Samsung Galaxy S5 Phone – 2014

Samsung, the Korean Electronics company, had released their latest, most anticipated phone product, Samsung Galaxy S5, for the world to see on April 11, 2014. They’ve placed a precise emphasis on an improved quality on the body, dust and water resistance and a more sophisticated user experience. There’s also new security features such as a fingerprint reader with a private mode, a heart rate monitor, and if that wasn’t enough, they updated the camera plus features.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 uses a higher quality soft plastic and is said to improve your hand grip. It is certified for dust resistance and with water resistance in up to 3.3 feet of water for up to 30 minutes. The S5 screen display size is a 5.1 inch – which is slightly larger than the S4. It allows for automatic brightness and gamut adjustments. The S5’s micro-USB 3.0 port also now uses a removable cover.

Now for those of you who love taking pictures on your phone, you will love the Samsung S5 Camera and their features. It includes a 16 megapixel rear-facing camera, offering a 4K of video recording, and a 0.3 second phase detection autofocus. There’s a real time HDR photo and video and an impressive image sensor with Samsung‘s “Isocell technology which isolates the individual pixels inside the sensor to improve its ability to capture light.” On the rear of the S5 device is the heart rate sensor, located right next to the camera’s flash.

The Download Booster tool allows large downloads to be split across LTE and WiFi to improve speed. Also a neat feature on the S5 phone is this Private Mode which allows users to sustain hidden apps and file folders that cannot gain access to without additional verification.

With its software containing an Ultra Power Saving mode to supplement an extended battery life when enabled, all non-essential processes are limited and the screen switches to only rendering in white on black. Samsung claims that with Ultra Power Saving on, the S5 phone with 10% charge remaining can last for an additional 24 hours in standby mode.

The Samsung has gotten mixed reviews about the S5 mobile, saying that it’s not an accurate advancement of the previous model neither does it contain adequate or substantial changes for current Galaxy S4 owners. However the S5 received mostly positive reviews for “improvements on the image quality provided by its Isocell image sensor.”
World Liberty TV had the pleasure of reviewing the Samsung Galaxy S5 Phone. They liked it so much that they made it the official phone for WLTV.

Exclusive interview with Peter Lyon Chairman World Car Awards -2014

At a press conference hosted by the New York International Auto Show and Bridgestone Corporation, the Audi A3 was declared the 2014 World Car of the Year.

Audi is no stranger to our World Car Awards program – now in its 10th year.   Audi has now won a total of seven times, having previously collected the inaugural 2005 World Car of the Year title, three World Performance Car titles in 2010, 2008 and 2007, and two World Car Design of the Year titles in 2008 and 2007.

The Audi A3 was chosen from an initial entry list of twenty-four vehicles from all over the world, then a short list of twelve, then three finalists:  The BMW 4 Series, the Mazda 3 and the Audi A3.

Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG, said: “The Audi A6 was the first ever winner of this award and we are delighted that the Audi A3 has repeated that achievement by being voted 2014 World Car of the Year.  The Audi A3 showcases Audi’s technical competence in all aspects of carmaking, not least in the areas of lightweight technology, drivetrain, mobile infotainment and driver assistance systems.  This major award win is an achievement that the whole company can celebrate”.

The World Car Awards jurors observed that, “It might borrow styling hints from its bigger brothers, but the A3 still offers classic, chiseled contours and even better interior trim levels. With a superb choice of engines and 4 body styles, the A3 range packs a hefty premium punch in the small luxury segment. Audi should be complimented for making this A3 ride like no other A3. All the old shimmer over rough surfaces has gone, replaced by a silky smooth ride that approaches limousine quality”.

To be eligible for the overall World Car award, the candidates must become available for sale on at least two continents during the period beginning January 1, 2013 and ending May 31, 2014.

Vehicles are selected and voted on by an international jury panel comprised of sixty-nine top-level automotive journalists from twenty-two countries around the world.  Each juror was appointed by the World Car Steering Committee on the basis of his or her expertise, experience, credibility, and influence.  Each juror typically drives and evaluates new vehicles on a regular basis as part of their professional work.   Through their respective outlets they collectively reach an audience of many millions world-wide.

Previous World Car of the Year winners are the Volkswagen Golf, the Volkswagen Up! in 2012, the Nissan Leaf in 2011, the Volkswagen Polo in 2010, Volkswagen Golf in 2009, the Mazda2 / Mazda Demio in 2008, the Lexus LS460 in 2007, the BMW 3-Series in 2006, and the Audi A6 in 2005.

About the World Car Awards

Now in their tenth year, the annual World Car Awards are now the number one awards program in the world based on Prime Research’s 2013 report.  The awards were inaugurated in 2003, and officially launched in January 2004, to reflect the reality of the global marketplace, as well as to recognize and reward automotive excellence on an international scale.   The awards are intended to complement, not compete, with existing national and regional Car of the Year programs.
