Andre Agassi Tennis great and Philanthropist interview at WOBI NY Forum -2016

Widely considered one of the greatest tennis players of all time, Agassi earned 60 men’s singles titles, including eight Grand Slams, over a 20-year career that was characterized by a talent, drive and passion that transcended the game.  Since retiring from tennis in 2006, Agassi has increased his focus on the Andre Agassi Foundation for Education, which has raised over $180 million for education reform since he founded it back in 1994.

A tennis prodigy who began playing the game at the age of three, Agassi enjoyed a meteoric rise up the rankings after turning professional at the age of 16.  He overcame the disappointment of losing his first three Grand Slam finals to win at Wimbledon in 1992, and would go on to become the first male player in history to win all four of the Grand Slam titles, as well as the Olympic gold medal, in one year.  Over the course of his career, Agassi was forced to overcome many hurdles as he battled with both the physical demands of the game and the intense psychological pressure that came with his fame and fortune.

In addition to his incredible achievements in tennis, Agassi has devoted much of his time to the Andre Agassi Foundation for Education, which he founded in 1994.  Since retiring in 2006, Andre Agassi has increased his focus on his foundation and on promoting education reform, raising $180 million dollars to date to benefit its mission.  In 2009, he released his autobiography, Open, which reached the number one spot on the New York Times bestseller list, and in 2011 he was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

Andre Agassi spoke at the WOBI Forum NYC, and he covered the following Topics:

Talent is just the start:  What it takes to become the best in the world and sustain success over the long term.

Developing the mental strength to give you the edge  when the pressure is on.

Getting your team right:  Identifying the skills and  characteristics you need in those around you.

How to bounce back from the inevitable setbacks,  failures and criticisms.

Setting goals and staying true to yourself:  On authenticity and the importance of giving back.

Former Mayor of New York City Mayor David Dinkins -2016

David Norman Dinkins (born July 10, 1927) is an American politician who served as the 106th Mayor of New York City, from 1990 to 1993. He was the first and, to date, only African American to hold that office.

Before entering politics, Dinkins served in the U.S. Marine Corps, graduated cum laude from Howard University, and received a law degree from Brooklyn Law School. He served as Manhattan borough president before becoming mayor. Under the Dinkins administration, crime in New York City decreased more dramatically and more rapidly than at any time in previous New York City history. After leaving office Dinkins was named professor of public affairs at Columbia University. Dinkins was a member of the Board of Directors of the United States Tennis Association, and a member of The Jazz Foundation of America. He serves on the boards of the New York City Global Partners, the Children’s Health Fund (CHF), the Association to Benefit Children and the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund (NMCF). Dinkins is also on the Advisory Board of Independent News & Media and the Black Leadership Forum, is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and is Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Directors of the National Black Leadership Commission on AIDS.

Dinkins entered office pledging racial healing, and famously referred to New York City’s demographic diversity as a “gorgeous mosaic.” Under Dinkins’ Safe Streets, Safe Cities program, crime in New York City decreased more dramatically and more rapidly, both in terms of actual numbers and percentage, than at any time in modern New York City history. The rates of most crimes, including all categories of violent crime, made consecutive declines during the last 36 months of his four-year term, ending a 30-year upward spiral and initiating a trend of falling rates that continued beyond his term.Despite the actual abating of crime, Dinkins was hurt by the perception that crime was out of control during his administration. Dinkins also initiated a hiring program that expanded the police department nearly 25%. The New York Times reported, “He obtained the State Legislature’s permission to dedicate a tax to hire thousands of police officers, and he fought to preserve a portion of that anticrime money to keep schools open into the evening, an award-winning initiative that kept tens of thousands of teenagers off the street.

Dinkins sat on the Board of Directors and in 2013 was on the Honorary Founders Board of The Jazz Foundation of America. He worked with that organization to save the homes and lives of America’s elderly jazz and blues musicians, including musicians who survived Hurricane Katrina. He serves on the boards of the Children’s Health Fund (CHF), the Association to Benefit Children and the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund (NMCF). Dinkins is also Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Directors of the National Black Leadership Commission on AIDS.

The handcrafted design is an illustration of the magic that happens when individual voices come together to take positive action.

Final Clinton Global Initiative Meeting NYC -2016

Former president Bill Clinton closed a major chapter of his post-presidential life on Wednesday, marking the end of his foundation’s glitzy, three-day philanthropic confab that had become a hallmark of its work.

CGI, which was founded in 2005, had become the networking event of choice for corporations, nonprofits, nongovernmental organizations and wealthy philanthropists.

“This may be the last annual meeting, but the work and the spirit of President Clinton’s vision and the CGI committed community will live on forever.” Said Many People who were in attendance.

Nevertheless, Clinton launched into a forceful defense of the partnership “model” of philanthropy founded by CGI that he said would be its enduring legacy, in addition to the more than 430 million people counted as beneficiaries of philanthropy that started at CGI over the years.

Clinton did not directly address his critics, but he gave an overall defense of the motivations behind the foundation in the face of accusations by their political adversaries that the foundation served as a source of financial enrichment for the Clintons. CGI, Clinton said, is about “building a culture of possibility” that can be deployed to solve the world’s most difficult and pressing problems.

And despite beginning the week with the suggestion that in its final day CGI would not become a “nostalgia trip,” Bill Clinton did just that. He listed off country after country and initiative after initiative that he had participated in and visited in his post-presidential years, starting the stories with the words “I remember.”

After a few minutes he warned the crowd that “just a couple more” were coming before he was finished.

When he walked off the stage many minutes later, he was greeted with an extended standing ovation.

We at World Liberty TV, Have Covered the Clinton Global Initiative’s for the past 8 years, and the kind of people President Clinton has helped throughout the World, through all regions of the World, with Medicine, Housing , Education, building of Haiti, is an honorable act of Humanity, and we heard testimonies, from World Leaders, and people helped by the Clinton Global Initiative’s, over and over again, in the past 8 years.
