Lainy Gold Couture Fashion Show @ Couture Fashion Week-2015

L ainy Gold’s color palette for 2015 is inspired by “Glacé-Ice”, the shimmer of ice when hit by the sun: silvers, golds, pinks and iridescent blues. Her latest collection is quite romantic, while also incorporating elements of Hollywood glamour.

Fashion has always been an important part of Lainy Gold’s life. She is a native of Canada with a French mother and British father, and her mother’s chic French fashion sense impacted the designer’s own personal style. Ms. Gold started designing at a young age, and went on to be a model for 15 years, surrounded by designers, immersed in the fashion world of showrooms, fittings and photo shoots. She presented her inaugural collection at Atlantic City Fashion Week, and has experience designing menswear, swimwear, children’s fashions, bridal designs, accessories and headpieces, as well as competitive dance outfits, along with her distinctive womenswear designs.

In addition to being a talented fashion designer, Lainy Gold is also an accomplished photographer and actress. Her photographic work has appeared in numerous print magazines and calendars. As an actress, she has appeared in such TV shows as Law and Order, Gossip Girl and Blue Bloods and films including New Year’s Eve, Mr. Poppers Penguin, Two Weeks Notice and Jersey Girl. Her latest role is in Road Rage – A Bleak Comedy, a film directed by Brad Mays, to be released in 2015.

Angola Designers Showcase at Fashion Gallery for NYFW-2014

On the last day of Fashion Gallery NYFW, Angola International Fashion Show was showcasing four designers that day. First up was a Dina Simao Spring/Summer 2015 collection, where zebra print was the main choice of animal print put together with rich, vibrant colors.

Dina Simão was born in the province of Luanda-Norte in Angola and came to Portugal in the 1980s where she started her international career as a dancer. Dina Simão’s varied career has included working as a dancer and dance teacher, a storyteller and model. She has also developed her own fashion range, has organized community development projects and managed international events. Her work has always been inspired by her African heritage and a desire to promote the talents of the various ethnic communities in Portugal.

Next up was designer Yhaniqua Lopes Spring/Summer 2015 collection where you can instantly see the ethnic prints with a Bible scripture “Proverbs 31:30” jumping at you in every piece coming down the runway . It was clearly evident that African print had a strong influence and a direct inspiration on this designer.

Yhaniqua Lopes is an African inspired clothing line that combines the beautiful roots of Africa with the natural elegance of a woman. Her designs attract strong, confident, edgy, chic and sophisticated women because of its elegant silhouette, wearable to work and night events. Her motto: Proverbs 31:30 “Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”

Following after was a young Caribbean designer, Janay Reymond of Feelo ‘je Swimwear 2015 collections. The talented designer instantly grabbed the audience with a gold two piece swimsuit and had us until the last swimsuit piece. The rest of the swimwear were filled with bright bold colors of pinks, blues, greens, orange, and yellow associated with cut-out mesh monokinis to high waisted two piece to criss-cross from front to back one piece swimsuits. It was an experience that I think had the audience including myself in awe.

And lastly, the designer Moreira Lucrecia gave double feature of Menswear and Womenswear all in one runway collection. However what stole the show was her womenswear collection of mixed pattern designs with complimentary colors you think would be too much but interestingly enough work so well together.

Interview with Kirk Hubbard, III CEO of Reyn Spooner Designs from Hawaii- 2014

World Liberty TV fashion team had the pleasure of interviewing Kirk Hubbard, the CEO of the Hawaiian clothing company called Reyn Spooner.

With a name that has become synonymous with the classic, Hawaiian Aloha shirt, the Reyn Spooner apparel brand has been gracing the scene since 1956, when it was originally known as Spooners of Waikiki. Back then, it was a much smaller operation that specialized in custom swim trunks.

Reyn’s founder Reyn McCullough started the store on California’s Catalina Island in 1949. He soon brought his first retail store to Hawaii in Honolulu’s Ala Moana Center as one of its original tenants. “Reyn worked closely with Spooners of Waikiki, and they decided to collaborate into [clothing brand] Reyn Spooner in 1962,” Hubbard says. Today, in addition to their own Hawaii retail stores, the apparel brand Reyn Spooner can be found throughout the U.S. in specialty and better department stores, internationally as well as online.

“It is true that in Hawaii, time has a way of stopping. Our way of life here has roots in the ancient, with nature and in Hawaiian culture. We are committed to enhancing the past by bringing our lifestyle right to you. We’ve been in business since 1956 using unique archival prints, exclusive vintage artwork, and work of celebrated artists to evoke the island life in our famous Classic & Modern Shirts. Try our special reverse print shirts that have a warmly-weathered-by-the sun worn quality to them. Add in our shorts and tees that embrace your casual and busy world. You will learn to live in the shirts and swimwear that are comfortable and tailor-made for you. So take your time (think island time) and see for yourself what is truly authentic. Hawaii will always be our source of inspiration and fine garment detailing will always be our tradition.”

He had a little bit of everything – some cocktails/red carpet dresses, swimwear, bodysuits, and two piece outfits with colors like vivid orange, hot pink, classic black, nude pink, white, gunmetal gray, power blue and complimentary prints mixed in. The details on his collection were impeccably done well – as always.

Max Azria is a Tunisian fashion designer, who founded the contemporary women’s clothing brand BCBG Max Azria Group, a global fashion house that encompasses over 20 brands. He is the CEO, chairman and head designer alongside his wife, Lubov Azria, who acts as chief creative officer.
