NYC’s 51st Village Halloween Parade Celebrates Individuality with its theme: Meow! Embrace your inner cat and attend the iconic New York City Halloween Parade.
The highly anticipated Village Halloween Parade set take place on Thursday, October 31st, has announced this year’s theme: “Meow!” to celebrate the inner “Cat Lady” in everyone.
The 51st Annual Parade invites participants to embrace their feline spirit with a dash of catnip, a ball of yarn, and an unshakable Cat Lady attitude for a night filled with creativity and eccentricity.
Leading the Halloween Parade this year as Grand Marshal is Tony Award-winning actor André De Shields, best known for his role as Hermes in the Broadway musical Hadestown and recently as Old Deuteronomy in CATS: “The Jellicle Ball”.
Inspired by the mysterious and untamed nature of cats, this year’s Village Halloween. Parade will bring to life a celebration of cat-inspired artistry, individuality, and bravado.
From the hidden “Cat Lady” in everyone to the audacious spirits of Eartha Kitt and Margaret Atwood, the parade invites participants to embrace their inner feline and join the procession.
With a nod to witches, black cats, and those who defy convention, the parade calls on every individual to don their finest tails and whiskers, and maybe even a sprinkle of catnip for that extra purr-sonal touch as they march together in recognition of unique, unapologetic identities.
“This Halloween, we step out of the shadows and onto the streets to celebrate our inner Cat Ladies. Whether you’re a solitary soul or a playful spirit, tonight we come together — quirks, claws, and all. So put on your whiskers and tails and join us as we dance in the moonlight.
After all, there’s a Cat Lady in everyone, just waiting to come out,” said Jeanne Fleming, long-time Director of the Parade.
The Village Halloween Parade begins at 7 p.m. ET and will proceed along Sixth Avenue, from Canal Street to 15th Street.
It is free for everyone, whether watching from the sidelines or joining in costume. No ticket is required; however, ticket holders can enjoy VIP access, with options ranging from viewing the parade to walking in it or supporting it through donations.
