Philippine Airlines (PAL) Announcement of Flying From Manila to NYC – 2015

Philippine Airlines is flying to the Big Apple, New York City, on March 15, 2015, marking the carrier’s much-awaited network expansion to the US east coast. In announcing the New York service, PAL Chairman & Chief Executive Officer Lucio C. Tan said, “This auspicious start of regular flights to New York will coincide with PAL’s 74th founding anniversary.” The four-times-a-week service – Manila-Vancouver-New York – will operate at Terminal 1 of New York’s JFK International Airport. PAL will have full traffic rights between Vancouver and New York. The addition of New York will bring to five the total US destinations, following Los Angeles, San Francisco, Honolulu and Guam. The flight to New York – distance of 14,501 kilometers or approximately 16.5 total flying hours – will be PAL’s longest route.

Flight PR 126 departs Manila every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 11:50 p.m. Arrival in Vancouver is 8:50 p.m. on the same day. After a two-hour transit stop, the service continues on to New York at 10:50 p.m., touching down at Terminal 1 of JFK International at 7:00 a.m. the following day. The return service, PR 127, departs New York at 11:00 a.m. every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, arriving in Vancouver at 1:50 p.m. It departs the Canadian city at 3:20 p.m. and lands back in Manila at 8:35 p.m. the following day. PAL will utilize the Airbus A340-300 jets, which seats 36 passengers in business class and 218 in economy. On board, passengers can expect to be pampered with PAL’s signature “at home” in-flight service, which features business class seats that convert to full-flat beds; in-flight entertainment system such as audio-video on demand in business, and gourmet cuisine designed by top international guest chefs.

The New York service will have the added benefit of boosting PAL’s Canadian operation. From March 15, 2015, the current daily service between Manila and Vancouver will spike to 11 flights weekly with three departure times from Manila – mid-afternoon, early evening and late evening – providing wider schedule choices to passengers. Manila-Toronto will add a fourth weekly frequency, increasing capacity on this long-haul route in time for the peak summer travel period out of Manila.

PAL’s return has been keenly anticipated by the huge Filipino-American communities along the U.S. eastern seaboard ever since the flag carrier pulled out of the region in 1997. About half a million ethnic Filipinos reside on the East Coast, with over 253,000 in the New York-New Jersey metropolitan area, 90,000 in Virginia, 75,000 in Washington, D.C. and environs, and 31,000 in the Philadelphia metro area. Overall, Filipinos on the East Coast account for 15% of the estimated 3.4-million-strong Filipino population in the U.S., comprising a natural base market for PAL.JFK Airport is located at Queens Borough, 15 miles to midtown Manhattan, with convenient connection to the New York subway train system (MTA).

IBS New York, once again, proved that the beauty industry is vibrant and strong.
IBS New York took place at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City and a myriad of the best in hair care, nail care, tools, furniture, apparel and business technology were represented among the almost 500 exhibiting companies showcasing the newest and hottest looks and trends.

Awesome Vibe

“We are thrilled with the turnout, energy and overall vibe experienced at IBS New York this year,” says Liza Wylie, vice president, events for the Questex Media Beauty and Spa group. “Our strong attendance led to record sales for the exhibitors and we were thrilled to welcome back such influential companies like Redken 5th Avenue and Farouk Systems to the show. Resign for our 2015 show was our strongest yet, for IBS and the International Esthetics, Cosmetics & Spa Conference (IECSC). We are proud to produce events in one of the greatest cities in the world.”

The Exhibits

The thousands of beauty professionals in attendance spent hours shopping and learning from the companies on the exhibit floor. “The energy on the floor of IBS is really something special. With so much talent concentrated in New York City, the caliber of names on the Main Stage is quite impressive and the education is unparalleled. We always come away with great exposure for the essie brand. We wouldn’t miss it,” remarked Gerald Densk, General Manager of the essie professional division.

Tom Mazy, Director of Sales for Agadir International had this to say, “Sensational show; it exceeded our expectations! We sold out of our new Agadir Styling Curl Crème and had to restock our line twice.”

The importance of reaching the IBS attendee was best stated by Stacy Kilfoy, Sr. Director of marketing for Brazilian Blowout. “Our appearance at the IBS show gave us the opportunity to educate, as well as, excite both new and certified stylists about Brazilian Blowout and how it changes hair and changes lives.” Kilfoy continued, “As a manufacturer, inperson engagement is invaluable in building relationships with salon professionals and IBS is a great environment to foster this connectivity.”

Lisa Marie Garcia, VP Shows and Education for Farouk Systems remarked, “The attendance was amazing this year. I saw more stylists than ever before asking for education and seeking what is new and trending in the hair world!”

Adrian Alicea’s 2015 Fall/Winter Collection “Sueno de Satyricon”

THE TEMERITY OF ADRIAN ALICEA IS ONLY SURPASSED BY THE PRECISE EXECUTION OF HIS VISION. ADRIAN ALICEA IS THE NEW ROMANTIC OF ROMANTIC EXCESSES. CREATING A PIRATE-LIKE FAIRY-TALE OF DISGUISES. HE WALKS A TIGHTROPE BETWEEN IRONIC HEDONISTIC INCLINATIONS AND HIGHLY SERIOUS SOCIAL COMMENTARY. THERE IS OSTENTATION, AND OPULENCE. THERE IS AN INSANE CARCINOGENIC, MERCILESS NARCISSISM. THERE IS A DEAFENING, ENDLESS SHOUT OF: GIMME MORE!

Never one to shy away from opportunity. As a model ADRIAN walked the runways for the likes of THIERRY MUGLER, GIORGIO ARMANI, JEAN-PAUL GAULTIER, GIANFRANCO FERRE and PATRICIA FIELDS. In the late nineties ADRIAN met NICO URQUIZA. This meeting would eventually lead to the famed House of NICO & ADRIAN NY. For ten years, Adrian worked with Nico to create a collection that featured unique and outrageous designs. Together they presented runway shows that were so scandalous in their overt sexiness that many of the worlds top models and fashion photographers came calling for collaborations. Their designs would come to be photographed by Steven Meisel and David LaChappelle. Linda Evangelista graced the cover of ITALIAN VOGUE in their spiked wrestler helmet.

For the past two years, Adrian has been keenly focused on the evolution and continued growth of “Adrian Alicea Haute Couture”. Celebrating his growth as an artist and paying tribute to his Latino and Taino Indian roots. Adrian quietly states: “I love color. I love music. I love dance. I want my designs to bring people joy. I make everything by hand. Each piece is unique. I put everything into my work–my heart, my soul, my love. I want everyone who wears my designs to feel special, to feel proud, to know that they are different and that they have the right to be.”

n the most mysterious district of Kiev – on the Hem, near a mountain foot with the dense wood, there is a beautiful house. Unusual, almost mystical room in a penthouse – a real paradise for the artist. Through the open windows trills of nightingales flow and modulations of peals are audible. The amazing Andreevsky church is visible from here. Here, far from city bustle there is a sacrament of creation of magnificent dresses, here conjure with sophisticated dresses and create someone’s future fatal images.

Thinking out every image, I represent the Woman for whom it is intended. Each dress has the name and the wonderful female history. Let sceptics laugh and wonder my eccentricities, but each dress has the character and will get to that heroine to whom won’t simply fit, and will please. And the soul of the Woman and the soul of her dress are incredibly harmonious.

The dress will emphasize all advantages and its essence will twinkle with mysterious light. It serves as a frame to precious beauty of her hostess, without eclipsing, and emphasizing her charm.

ith each found dress, there is a timid offensive premonition of something incredible from which you feel happy and there is a wish to make happy someone else. Dress is as a prelude to Happiness.

Collections which you will see are weaved from admiration of female Beauty, embroidered with Elegance and spiritualized by Love. It is my fairy tale and my reality!

BiBHU Mohapatra Fall Winter Collection at Mercedes Benz NYFW-2015

Growing up with his family in Orissa, on the East Coast of India, Bibhu Mohapatra’s appreciation for sumptuous Indian fabrics and vibrant colors began at an early age. This initial exposure to textiles and garment construction still inspires Bibhu’s designs and permeates throughout the collections of his namesake label. Bibhu moved to America in 1996, and after graduating from Utah State University with a Masters degree in Economics, moved to New York City in 1999 and enrolled at the Fashion Institute of Technology.

While working on his design degree, Bibhu honed his skills as an assistant designer at the iconic American fashion label, Halston. In his senior year at FIT, Bibhu was commended for his design skill and aesthetic and awarded the prestigious Critic’s Award for Best Evening Wear Designer. This recognition helped launch his career. After graduating, Bibhu was hired by Gilles Mendel, CEO of the iconic French furrier J. Mendel. Bibhu held the position of Design Director at the label for nine years, where his innate talent and sense of style were revealed in the cutting edge designs of glamorous gowns and magnificently opulent furs. Responding to the rapidly increasing demand for his work however, Bibhu moved out on his own and began designing custom couture evening gowns, cocktail dresses and furs for a select group of private clients in New York, Europe and India.

Bibhu’s eponymous label, Bibhu Mohapatra, launched its first collection during New York Fashion week in 2009. The brand is currently sold at Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus and select specialty boutiques across North America, Europe, Russia and the Middle East. To date, celebrities such as Hilary Swank, Gwyneth Paltrow, Glenn Close, Kristen Wiig, and Elisabeth Moss have all worn Bibhu’s designs, and he recently dressed the US First Lady, Michelle Obama. In January 2010, Bibhu was a finalist in the Women’s Apparel 2010 Rising Star Award presented by the Fashion Group International. In May 2010 he received the Young Innovator Award from the National Arts Club, and in June 2010 he became a member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America. In January 2011, Bibhu received the Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation Award.

Lupe Guajardo Fashion Designer from chile at Mercedes Benz NYFW-2015

Lupe Gajardo is an emerging fashion designer from Santiago – Chile. Despite of her early age and career, both the press and the industry experts consider her Latin American fashion’s “prodigy child”.

Any discussion of the essential characteristics of her fashion style and inspiration must begin with her native country of Chile, unfamiliar to the majority of the people around the world yet locally admired for its natural beauty and cultural attractiveness. She lived in the north of the country (desert), studied in the Coast (Viña del Mar, Valparaíso) and finally returned to live and establish herself in the Capital. Through this experience, she benefited from the cultural richness of different areas of the country, which inspirations are translated into her collections.

She launched her self-named brand in 2010 and immediately surprised the industry with her fresh and unique talent. Since then, she hasn’t stopped: 9 collections, Berlin Fashion Week, FTV’s top 5 trendsetters of the year, Santiago Fashion Week, collaborations with Diet Coke to design a special edition of the can distributed across Chile, interviews for Latin American Vogue and H&M Life. In early 2014, she traveled to New York City where she had an internship experience with the renowned Latin American designer, Sebastian Errazuriz

Lupe Gajardo’s distinguishing features are beauty; a sense of craft; a strong, confident silhouette; and the marriage of Latin American tradition with the avant-garde. But even more than that, it offers a fresh injection of Latin America’s energy, power and soul for the truly authentic, stylish and daring to experiment and feel.
