The Orthopaedic Foundation for Active Lifestyles (OFALS)  Fourteenth Annual Gala will take place on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at the Lotte New York Palace. The evening will begin with a champagne and hors d’oeuvres reception at 6:00 PM followed by dinner.

The gala will honor Wes Matthews Sr., NBA legend, Los Angeles Lakers Point Guard and 2x NBA Champion who will receive the ‘Spirit of Active Lifestyle’ Award. Also honored will be Olivia Palmero, Global Style Icon and Entrepreneur who will receive the “Leadership, Vision & Inspiration” award. McCullough Shriver, Sweetflexx Founder, Inventor and CEO will receive the “Entrepreneurial Spirit Award.” Sweetflexx is an activewear clothing line with built in resistance bands.

Cindy Hsu, WCBS-TV’s Emmy Award Winning News Anchor and Reporter will serve as emcee for the Gala.  Nick Fradiani singer, song writer and American Idol Season 14 Winner will perform.

The evening’s menu will be created by award winning Celebrity Chef’s Ben Bebenroth from Spice Kitchen & Bar, Spice Catering Co. and Spice Acres Farm and Bill Telepan from Oceana Restaurant NYC and the Institute of Culinary Education.

Proceeds from the evening will benefit the Orthopaedic Foundation for Active Lifestyles, developed by Orthopaedic Surgeon and Sports Medicine Specialist Kevin Plancher, MD. OFALS is a not-for-profit foundation whose principal mission is to promote, support, develop and encourage research and education concerning orthopedic injuries and musculoskeletal diseases.

Support will fund cutting edge research on new and minimally invasive ways to treat pain and keep individuals active. Proceeds will also provide hands on “Doctor for a Day” educational labs for middle school and high school students in the New York and Connecticut region. The theme of this year’s gala is, “Educating our Kids for a Pain Free Tomorrow.”

Nick Fradiani – American Idol Season 14 Winner, did a live performance and had the people dancing and jumping up and down with joy, his music was very touching and inspiring.
