The New York International Automobile Show 2011
Traditionally marking the end of the auto show season, the NY Auto Show is often full of surprises. With luxury German automakers having consistent debuts, it’s also become a staple for Hyundai, Kia, Subaru, Nissan and Scion. Debuts planned or rumored for the 2011 show include the 2012 Subaru Impreza, Hyundai Accent, Chevy Malibu, Nissan Versa, Volkswagen Beetle, Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, Mercedes A-Class Concept.
2014 Toyota Highlander Greets the World with NYC debut at The NY Auto Show 2013
The new third-generation Highlander will come with the buyer’s choice of three different powertrain options. The base model will be powered by a 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission with front-wheel-drive. Next up the ladder is a 3.5-liter V6, also mated to the 6AT, which can be had with either front-or all-wheel-drive. Finally, the Highlander Hybrid will be equipped with all-wheel drive, its 3.5-liter V6 mated to an electric motor, all hooked up to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The automaker has not released any specs for fuel economy or output yet, though we’re promised increases in both power and efficiency.
Inside, the most important feature of this model is that it seats eight humans. Beyond that, the automaker is crowing about contrast stitching on the seating surfaces, soft-touch materials on the instrument panel and accents in wood grain, silver satin and chrome. The third row is now easier to access via a sliding second-row point of entry, and is more capacious thanks to 4.3-inches of added width. There’s also a raft of newly safety tech including lane-departure warning, pre-collision warning and blind spot monitoring systems.

The 2014 Volkswagen Golf and GTI make their North American debut at the NY Int’l Auto Show 2013
The new Golf, which we get roughly next spring, promises to be not only a bit bigger, growing about two inches, but also lighter by 60 lbs. A bigger car that weighs less is typically tough to achieve; VW managed it by upping the use of high-strength steel from 66 to 80 percent. Ultra-high-strength hot-formed steel usage has jumped from six to 28 percent.
The GTI’s 2.0-liter four gas motor is also far more potent, jumping to 220 hp and 258 lb. ft. of torque—enough to make current Golf R buyers miffed (the R makes 256 hp but only 243 lb. ft. of torque.)
The 2014 Jaguar XKR-S GT is Unveiled During the 2013 New York International Auto Show
Besides sports sedan XJR, Jaguar has prepared another premiere for this year’s Motor Show. It’s XKR GT-S, which will be produced in an exclusive run of only 30 pieces, and all of 30 pieces are intended for the North American market.
It is used as the XKR-S, which means that the facility cares 5.0 liter V8 engine with a compressor that has 550KS and 680 Nm, in combination with the six-speed automatic transmission.
Top speed is limited to 170mph, while its acceleration from 0 to 60 mph is 3.9 seconds. Definitely another positive surprise from the Jaguar, but customers in Europe will be certainly disappointed.
Although Jaguar officially launched the car at the New York Auto Show, it is not scheduled to go on sale until the summer, when it is expected to cost $174,895.

Exclusive Interview with Torsten Muller-Otvos, CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars – 2013
The Rolls-Royce Wraith made its American debut at the New York Auto Show 2013. The Rolls-Royce Wraith is the fastest, most technically advanced Rolls-Royce ever built. It revives a name, not used since 1939. It also revives the lost shape of the Fastback.
The Rolls-Royce Wraith develops 624bhp and 800Nm of torque from a 6.6 litre twin-turbo V12 with direct petrol injection. This makes it the most powerful Rolls-Royce ever! This means the Wraith will hit 62mph in just 4.6 seconds and go on to an electronically governed top speed of 155mph. The power is routed through an eight speed, automatic ZF transmission to the rear wheels.
World Liberty TV had a pleasure of speaking to Torsten Muller-Otvos, CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, in detail about the North American debut of the Rolls Royce Wraith at the NYIAS 2013.
